In agriculture, the problem of big data processing has been solved for some time. This is where the concept of the Value Adding Organization comes into play. These organizations represent a key step in the transformation of raw data into knowledge that is then used by end users.
Value-adding organizations focus on connecting with end users and demonstrate the ability to connect to various data sources, such as Remote Sensing data.
Data users can be categorized according to whether they are primarily data processors or whether they are more likely to consume the results produced by data companies.
In the first group we have IT specialists, software developers, consultants and other experts in the field of Earth observation, aerial photogrammetry and others. The second group consists directly of farmers, agronomists and suppliers. The cooperation of both groups is essential for the development of effective applications for agriculture.
With these apps, farmers can make informed decisions about their crops, advisors can offer their services, and suppliers can better predict demand for their products. Precision agriculture needs the support of the entire value chain, with the farmer at the center.
Returning to the knowledge pyramid, we see that a wide range of experts is needed to effectively transform data into actionable knowledge and wisdom.
